Kaffarah for breaking a missed Ramadan fast
Does someone who has broken their fast, which was a make up of a missed Ramadan fast, have to pay a kaffara (compensation) for having broken it?
Bismillaahir Rahmaanir Raheem.

This question has been answered in a previous Arabic fatwaa, which can be found on this link: https://darulilm.wordpress.com/2012/10/11/ما-حكم-الافطار-في-صوم-القضاء-بعذر-أو-بلا-عذر/
To summarise the issue:
If a person breaks a Qadhaa Ramadhaan fast with a valid Shar`ee reason, then he will not be sinful, while if he breaks it without a valid reason then he is a sinner, but in both cases only Qadhaa will be required and not Kaffaarah.
Imaam Az-Zayla`ee Rahimahullaah says in Tabyeenul Haqaa’iq: “Kaffaarah is not obligatory for breaking a fast outside the month of Ramadhaan, even if it’s a Qadhaa fast of Ramadhaan, because Kaffaarah had come due to breaking the sanctity of the month of Ramadhaan.” [i]
